The older I get, the more I realize these moments don’t wait for us… we have to choose them.

Hot air ballooning over Egypt, trekking with gorillas in the wild, standing face-to-face with Komodo dragons, watching a volcano erupt at a dangerously close distance, and snorkeling with sea lions and penguins in the Galápagos... talk about epic.

These are the memories we’ll hold onto when my knees are (more) creaky. They’ll be the stories we tell for generations.These are the moments I’ll be grateful I didn’t postpone for “someday.”

Save this for your Thailand itinerary

We had no idea this would become one of our favorite experiences in Chiang Mai. We booked a sunrise meditation tour with an ex-monk on TripAdvisor… and WOW.

Our day started with a 5am pickup (skipping our morning coffee), a quiet drive up the mountain, and a stop to watch the lights of Chiang Mai glow in the pre-dawn hours. By the time we reached the temple, you could already hear the monks chanting.

Inside, we were invited to sit with them and practice concentration meditation... truly one of those surreal, grounding “how is this my life?” moments.

We left with a deeper understanding of Buddhism and its importance to Thai culture.

Here’s the truth: it’s not cheap for a PRIVATE long tail boat in Thailand.

While it’s certainly cheaper to go with a shared island hopping tour, this was one of our favorite experiences in Thailand.

From Krabi we island hopped, snorkeled, had a private dinner picnic made for us on the beach, and sipped coconuts as we watched the sunset.

It was probably one of the most romantic evenings we have ever had together. It was… magical.
